There's a planet in the Kisson system where lightning strikes roughly every eleven seconds. It has never once stopped raining. Naturally, I decided this was the perfect place to build my dream observatory.
The design
A glass-domed cylinder perched on a cliff edge, half laboratory, half viewing deck. Inside: a teleporter, an agricultural wing growing frost crystal and gamma root, and one very smug science terminal NPC who insists the lightning is "statistically unremarkable."

Lessons learned
Glass panels are cheap; patience is not. Build the frame first, wire the lighting before you enclose anything, and always — always — place a save point outside before testing your own teleporter. Ask me how I know.
The base is open to visitors via the nexus portal. Come watch the sky tear itself apart from behind four centimeters of reinforced glass. Bring sodium.
